A website fit for one of Bathurst NSW's most iconic events of the year

The Panorama Punish's New WordPress Website

The Panorama Punish’s original site had been in place since the event’s early days and had served its purpose well. But as the event grew, the website was no longer keeping up, it wasn’t doing enough to showcase the event or support its development.

For events like the Panorama Punish, a website is often the first place people go to find information, view photos from previous years, and stay up to date with announcements. While the old site contained useful content, its design, structure, and functionality were beginning to show their age.

The initial plan was a simple refresh. A few design tweaks, some reorganisation of pages. But a closer look revealed a bigger issue. The WordPress version and many of the plugins were out of date, creating security risks and limiting what could realistically be updated. With the organisers about to announce that year’s event date, time was tight.

After assessing the site’s limitations, I recommended that a full rebuild on a modern WordPress platform would be a more efficient approach. This approach would provide stronger security, a cleaner design, SEO optimisation, and a more manageable website for the organisers to update as they wished, all without delaying the event announcement.

I began by reviewing the original website’s structure and content, identifying what worked well and what could be improved. Using photos, videos, and materials from previous Panorama Punish events, I designed a site that better captured the energy, atmosphere, and community spirit of the event.

Alongside the visual refresh, I introduced practical upgrades to make the website work harder for the organisers. Navigation was simplified, the page structure clarified, and content management streamlined so updates and announcements could be shared effortlessly. I also connected the site to Google Analytics, Search Console, and Smart Look, giving the organisers insight into how people find and interact with the site.

The result is a fully rebuilt, secure, and modern WordPress website that grows with the Panorama Punish. The new site features updated branding reflecting the colours of that year’s event, improved navigation, and a design that showcases the event at its best. SEO optimisation has increased visibility, with the majority of visitors now arriving through organic search rather than direct traffic or paid advertising.

Today, the website acts as a central hub for the event, supporting participants, building engagement, and laying a strong foundation for future growth. I continue to provide hosting, maintenance, and ongoing technical support, ensuring the website remains secure and up to date.

If your event website feels outdated, hard to manage, or isn’t performing as it should, a strategic rebuild can make all the difference, not just in appearance, but in how well your website supports your goals, attracts new participants, and keeps your community connected.
